Vermont Senior Year Photos: High School Portraits
Introduction to Senior Photography
Senior photography is a special way to celebrate the journey of high school seniors as they approach graduation. As a Vermont senior photographer, my goal is to capture the spirit of your senior year and the unique personality that makes you, you. Senior portraits are more than just photos—they’re a way to reflect on this important stage of life and create memories you’ll cherish forever.
Each session is designed to be stress free and full of fun, so you can relax, show your genuine smiles, and let your confidence shine. Whether you’re outgoing or a bit camera-shy, senior photography is all about capturing your story and creating images that reflect your true self. These are the moments you’ll look back on, remembering not just how you looked, but how you felt at the beginning of this exciting new chapter.
Book Your Senior Portraits Now!
As summer ends and back-to-school season is in full swing throughout Vermont, have you thought about booking your photographer for senior pictures? It's important to book early to secure your preferred session date and avoid missing out during the busy season.
Many clients haven’t started planning yet, and that’s totally fine, but you can’t wait much longer as we are heading into the busy season. We encourage clients to start planning their senior portraits several months in advance to ensure the best availability and a personalized experience. Most students who book Vermont senior portraits want them taken around the same time—early fall. While we do our best to accommodate all requests, sessions are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. We are happy to help clients decide on the best date and time for their session. If you have ideas or questions, feel free to chat with us before booking!
The Beauty of Vermont in Spring, Summer, and Autumn
Spring and summer are just as beautiful as autumn in Vermont, offering a variety of scenic locations for your senior portraits in each season. If you want a senior portrait session in the fall, schedule it earlier rather than later, as there are only so many weekends for outdoor sessions.
Sessions typically last one to two hours, allowing for multiple locations and outfit changes. We all know Mother Nature doesn’t care if we want a pop of sunshine to bring your images to life. We will discuss rain dates if it’s in the upcoming forecast.
Don't Be Nervous About Your Senior Portraits
There’s no reason to be anxious about having your senior portraits taken. Our goal is to create a fun experience for all clients, making you feel comfortable and at ease. We understand that you don’t want to be posed. One thing I know is how one’s portraits can change their opinion of themselves. For many clients, this is the last formal photo you’ll have before engagement or wedding photos. We want to ensure your portraits show who you are, so relax.
A photo session is nothing more than a conversation that unfolds through various outfit changes, some laughs, and, of course, stunning photographs you and your family will love. Each session is tailored to our clients, incorporating your interests and passions to make the experience personal. I’ll bring music along; just tell me what you want to hear, and I’ll make a playlist to help the photo session flow. The session is designed to photograph each senior in a way that highlights their unique style, and we aim to photograph genuine moments and expressions throughout.
Arriving early or on time is crucial. Showing up late to your senior portrait session simply means you will have less time in front of the lens. It takes about 10 minutes for nerves to calm before we can start capturing true expressions. If you’re running late, please shoot me a text to let me know.

High School Seniors: Clothing (Please Read)
We offer unlimited wardrobe changes, so bring a variety of clothing options to mix and match, giving us more flexibility to choose the best outfit for the outdoor surroundings. Depending on the package you select, multiple outfit changes may be included, so you can decide which looks you want to feature. Hang up all your clothing to eliminate wrinkles for a more polished look. If you’re someone who throws things in a bag and hopes for the best, wet the clothes, toss in a dryer sheet, and dry them for 15 minutes. (Don’t put items in the dryer that shouldn’t go in there.)
Colors are great to incorporate into your Vermont senior portraits. Be mindful of complementary colors so you don’t blend into the background. For instance, wear blue if there are a lot of oranges around, and wear darker green if there are many reds. These details can make all the difference.
A variety of casual and dress shoes would be ideal. Be mindful of patterns or stripes, as they should pair well with non-clashing outfits. And let’s address the elephant in the room: Crocs with socks. Unless you want your senior portraits to become a meme, leave those quirky fashion choices at home. We get it, they’re comfy, but let’s stick to shoes that won’t distract from your fabulous self. After all, you’ll want your friends to remember your stylish side, not your unique footwear preferences!
Props
Props are a great way to showcase your interests and hobbies, helping to tell your story. Popular choices include sports equipment, uniforms, musical instruments, skateboards, snowboards, or pets. By incorporating your interests, we can photograph your unique style and personality, ensuring your senior portraits truly reflect who you are. If your school’s colors are important to you, we can capture that as well.
Blemishes
Don't worry about blemishes; it happens. Stressing will only make your skin more prone to breakouts. We can take care of any areas of concern during editing. To improve your skin, drink water, don't pick your skin, get enough sleep, minimize stress, and moisturize.
Bringing Someone to Your Photo Session
You're welcome to bring someone with you to your high school senior portrait session. A friend's opinion can be invaluable. They know your selfie game and can help ensure you're smiling genuinely.
Family Session Option
Senior year is a milestone not just for the student, but for the whole family. That’s why I offer a family session option, allowing you to include your immediate family in your senior photo session. It’s a wonderful way to capture the love, laughter, and connection you share, creating memories you’ll treasure for years to come.
Whether you want a few photos with your parents and siblings or a larger family gathering, I’ll make sure everyone feels comfortable and has fun in front of the camera. As your Vermont senior photographer, I focus on creating a relaxed atmosphere so your family’s unique bond shines through. Celebrate this special time together and let’s create beautiful images that tell your family’s story as you mark this important moment in your senior’s life.

Natural Light Vermont Senior Portrait Photographer
We will provide the best times for natural light to capture amazing images for your yearbook. We'll avoid noon as the sun casts harsh shadows. The golden hour, an hour before sunset, produces the best lighting.
Location Selection
he right location can make your senior photos truly stand out and reflect your unique personality. As a Vermont senior photographer, I know all the best spots—from the rolling hills and vibrant foliage of Chittenden County to the peaceful shores of Lake Champlain, and even charming urban corners or historic streets in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Whether you love the natural beauty of the outdoors or prefer a more urban vibe, we’ll work together to choose a location that fits your style and vision. Each setting offers its own character, helping to capture senior pictures that are as unique as you are. The process is all about finding a place where you feel comfortable and inspired, so your senior photos tell your story in a way that’s authentic and memorable.
Session Details and Preparation
Getting ready for your senior photo session is all about planning the details so you can relax and enjoy the experience. We’ll start by choosing your session date, location, and discussing any outfit changes you’d like to make. As your Vermont senior photographer, my goal is to make the process stress free and fun, so you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
The session fee is non-refundable and covers my time, expertise, and the creation of custom senior photos that capture your unique personality. After your session, you’ll have the option to purchase digital images and wall portraits, so you and your family can cherish these memories forever. From helping you select outfits that reflect your style to making sure every detail is just right, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. Let’s create an amazing experience and photographs you’ll be proud to look back on for years to come.
